MORRISTOWN- The Hamblen County Young Republicans hosted a debate for Republican candidates running in the 1^st Congressional District. The debate was held at Morristown West High School on Thursday, May 11^th. The debate received tremendous coverage from both The Greeneville Sun and The Morristown Citizen.  More than 200 people attended the debate. Eight candidates were present, including Dan Smith, State Rep. David Davis, and Peggy Barnett. The debate focused on critical issues such as immigration, the “death” tax, and the war in Iraq. A straw poll was conducted at the debate to which candidate the audience supported the most.
