The next quarterly Tennessee YR meeting/event will be our annual rechartering meeting, which will be scheduled for Saturday, March 24th at 11 a.m. in the state senate chamber in Nashville. The rechartering meeting is one of our biggest meetings each year, so encourage your club members to attend this meeting this year! U.S. Congressman Marsha Blackburn will probably be joining us at the rechartering meeting! The Tennessee House and Senate Republican Caucuses will hold a reception for the Young Republicans following the rechartering meeting in Nashville. The reception will start at approximately 12:30 p.m. Please let me know if you plan to attend the rechartering meeting and how many people from your respective counties are planning to attend the meeting. All Tennessee clubs interested in chartering/rechartering need the following information:
- A copy of your membership list (names, addresses, phone #s, e-mails, birthdates, and officer lists)
- A copy of your club’s constitution and by-laws
- A check payable to the Tennessee Young Republican Federation for $3 per member (minimum 10 required to charter)
Also, the Montgomery County (Clarksville) Lincoln Day Dinner will be held that same night, March 24th, in Clarksville. Tickets are $50 per person, and Montgomery County YR Chairman Adam Groves is working on getting tickets for any Young Republican who is interested! Adam can be contacted at adam@adamgroves.net.
Richard Morton, 2nd Vice-Chairman for the Shelby County Young Republicans, has filed a petition to run in a special election for State House District 92. He is the only Republican running in the race, and he will face Democrat G.A. Hardaway for the special election, which will be held on Tuesday, March 13th. The Shelby County Young Republicans are playing a vital role in helping Richard with his campaign!
The Tennessee Young Republican Federation will provide campaign help to Richard Morton on Saturday, March 3rd in Memphis. This weekend we will try to get YRs in the Memphis area and outside the Memphis area to knock on doors, make phone calls, etc. Campaigning should start around 9:30 a.m. on Saturday morning and last most of the afternoon. Shelby County YR Paul Boyd will bring breakfast to volunteers, plus he has coordinated BBQ lunch for YRs near the campaign area.
All YRs interested in helping Richard need to meet at 9:30 a.m. at 426 Lytle in Memphis. Below will be a Mapquest link to show you how to get to the Lytle address. YRs will campaign through about 4 p.m. on Saturday. The campaign will try to hit all 2,000 Republican targeted households in the state house district on Saturday. We need your help! Call Paul at (901) 849-2468 or Richard at (901) 486-1909 for more information. Richard’s campaign web site is http://www.richardmorton.org. We look forward to seeing you there!
