Tuesday, November 2, 2010 truly was historic. Republicans gained 14 seats in the Tennessee House of Representatives, one seat in the Tennessee Senate, three seats in our congressional delegation and we won the governorship by a 65-33 margin. No incumbent Republican lost on either the state or federal level. It is truly difficult to imagine a better night. But it should also serve as a lesson of how quickly a political party can lose power once its leadership and its members ignore those who elected them.
There are too many Young Republicans to thank individually for making this happen. There are also many friends of the YRs who gave their time, money and efforts to our organization believing our members could make a difference. After donating $21,000 through our PAC and providing significant grassroots support to countless candidates, it is safe to say that those individuals were correct.
Special Recognition
Congratulations to Julia Hurley, a Loudon County YR, who was elected to the Tennessee House of Representatives. We now have a total of (6) YRs in the State House along with one in the State Senate.
We also now have a YR in Congress. Congratulations to Stephen Fincher, a Crockett County YR, who was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives.
Christmas Party
Around 8 pm, we will briefly recognize YRs who went above and beyond during the past year. We are also proud to have Rep. Glen Casada as a keynote speaker.
Thank you
Many of you knocked on doors. Many of you made calls. Many of you wrote checks. Due to your efforts, our organization has become a legitimate force for electing Republican candidates in Tennessee, and I cannot thank you enough for your commitment
In Republican Service,
